If you've noticed droopy faces coming home this week - it's all thanks to math.
We are currently working through a real world application using multiplication and division of decimals and applying that to a road trip. We are filling up tanks, converting from miles to gallons and tons of other "fun" things.
I've encouraged students not to ask parents for help - it is tricky stuff but they have all of the information and formulas they need in order to work this problem out. We have been doing all of this in the classroom but seeing as how they have until Tuesday morning to turn it in - I am allowing them to work on it at home these next few nights. Please encourage them to keep trying possible answers and USE THEIR NOTES. Many of them have not been reading all of the information provided and hence caused more frustration. Overall it's a good math experience that will teach them how working with numbers is important along with labeling their numbers and learning the meaning behind numbers/units.
We have a 5 questions quiz tomorrow over division and multiplication of decimals. For extra help students can access Pearsonsuccess.net pages 231-233 cover working with decimals.
See you all at the feast tomorrow!
