Math class notes...

  • Math class notes -

Definitions:

  • used to show the number of times something occurs

  • collected information; facts or figures from which conclusions may be drawn

  • helps you interpret data on a graph or map

  • display of responses along a number line with x's recorded above the response to indicate the number of times the response occurred

  • the number found by adding all the data and dividing by the number of data; average

  • a visual display of data (graph) shown by using lines to show change over time, contiguous data

  • a bar graph that displays two separate shaded bars to compare the two sets of data

  • A graph that displays data in the form of a circle. The circular region is divided into a number of pie-shaped sectors to represent portions of the data.

  • either of two lines drawn perpendicular to each other in a graph.

  • a graph that uses bars to show data

  • the difference between adjoining numbers on an axis of a graph

Second half of the slides notes Definitions:

  • A mark used in keeping track of acts or objects. The marks consist of four vertical lines bundled diagonally or horizontally by a fifth line.

  • a representative part of a larger group

  • the general direction in a data set

  • a way to collect data to answer a question

  • the difference between the largest value and the smallest value in a data list

  • Per hundred. A special ratio that compares a number to 100 using the symbol %.

  • a series of numbers at equal distances along an axis on a graph

  • the data value that occurs the most often in a set of data

  • a chart of pictures of symbols to compare data that can be counted

  • the middle number in an ordered set of data
